The City

Siriath
Like Ankh-Morpork, has strong guild associations, including Thieves’ and Assassins’. Like A-M, The Ancient and Worshipful Brotherhood of Inhumers is for the upper social classes exclusively.
The City is OLD… ancient. It has been a city (not a hamlet/village/settlement) for as long as living and written memory for all mortal creatures.

The city has three levels, each divided into separate cantons:
Siriath Above – a magical floating fortress
Shadow City – surface area, mostly in the shadow of Siriath Above
Undertown – subterranean

Races
Siriath is a melting pot of humans, demi-humans, and those humanoids with enough sense to realize that life is better in the city. Creatures with “citizen” standing and protected under law include:
dwarves
elves
goblins
gnomes
halflings
half-orcs
humans
ogres
orcs
All humanoids in the city should be considered the most intelligent exemplars of their species, and generally are not looking for trouble, regardless of religion or alignment. The Pax Tyrannus is enforced by the City Watch.

Money
Siriath uses the silver standard.

Magic items
Magic items are rare, expensive, and difficult to buy. The City has a few factors (like a mostly-legal fence) who specialize in such. They sell on consignment almost exclusively, and generally only have a few items in their possession at any time. Items sold to or through a factor only fetch a fraction of their list price; items bought from such cost many times their listed value. Some factors will barter, and some have been known to hire adventurers on commission.
